“The use of these Image Strips, Image Back Tags and Image Shelf Tags™ in the reset process cut reset time in half.  Total store sets that used to take 10-12 hours to accomplish now are completed in about 6 hours with the same number of people,” according to Nancy.  “In addition, the sets are executed exactly as designed by the BP category managers.” 

Further, precision resets historically were dependent on skilled and experienced set teams.  With the Image Merchandising Tools, category resets could be accurately accomplished with less experienced store personnel, increasing BP’s capabilities to meet emerging consumer needs and labor efficiency.

Over time, in the pilot stores, the Image Merchandising Tools also delivered on the second objective, reducing out-of-stocks.

72% of out-of-stocks are caused by store stocking, maintenance, restocking and reorder issues.  Putting the product images in the precise position on the shelf or on the peg where the actual product was supposed to be, proved to be a great aid to stockers and reorder personnel.  Face-overs were eventually eliminated, back-stock was brought forward and reorders continue to be timelier, more accurate and more complete.  Restocking was made more efficient from a labor perspective by a good third.

The combination of accurate product dimensions in the set, keen shelf allocation and planning, and the Image Merchandising Tools virtually eliminated store-caused out-of-stocks.  This reduction in out-of-stocks had a surprisingly pleasant impact on sales.
