Speed to (Set) Shelf - Part 2 of 3
Simple Process
The process was simple. After the planogram for each store
was completed, De Both copied it to a Gladson-designed window on his computer.
Working with that file, Gladson used proprietary software to identify each item
in the planogram and pull the appropriate product image and its dimensions from
its master database of over 850,000 products. After a thorough quality check, a
PDF was created for each strip and tag, cut to the shelf size, collated and
bound together in the order defined in the planogram and shipped.
“We work with our retail customers to meet their deadlines,”
said Greg Gates, Gladson Interactive’s vice president of image merchandising
solutions. “However, depending upon such things as the store size and number of
items, we complete our work and have the image strips to the customer in about
five to ten working days from the time we receive the planogram file”. For each
Strack & Van Til store, Gladson created about 3,000 four-foot long shelf
strips and 2,100 back tags.
Once the strips arrived at the Strack & Van Til store,
as requested on a Thursday or Friday, a team of six or seven employees taped
the strips and back tags in place, a process that took about a day and a half.
“The fact that the strips were bound and sorted in the proper planogram order
allowed us to work very quickly and efficiently”, De Both added.
